Opening Soon – Luxury Hotels in Nice
Between 2020 and 2022, more than 1,200 new hotel rooms will open in the city of Nice. Here are some of the highlights.

The Convent of the Visitation, built in the 1600’s in the historic heart of Old Nice, will be converted to the 5* Hotel du Couvent. This luxury hotel will have 85 rooms, a spa, swimming pool, restaurant and bar. The renovation will retain the historic elements of the building.

Near the Nice Cote d’Azur airport, two Intercontinental Hotels will open, sharing shops and offices. They will be the 130-room Crown Plaza and a 130-room Holiday Inn Express.

Hilton will open a 120-room hotel in a new complex in Nice’s city center. The complex will include shops, restaurants, offices and a theater.

Okko Hotels, a French brand has an existing hotel in Cannes and has plans to open a hotel in Nice. This is a collection of 4* hotels.

A 4* Sheraton, located between the airport and city, will open with 230 rooms, restaurants, a fitness center, swimming pool and spa.

Renovation Projects
JW Marriott Cannes
From October 18, 2019 to June 2020, the JW Marriott Cannes will undergo a comprehensive renovation project to upgrade its public spaces, including the shopping arcade, lobby, restaurant and private beach.

Hotel Plaza Nice
The Hotel Plaza has closed and will reopen as part of the 5* Dedica Anthology group of hotels in 2020, after undergoing a comprehensive and complete transformation. This landmark hotel was built in 1850 and has been a part of the social scene ever since. The location offers stunning views overlooking the Mediterranean, Promenade des Anglais and Place Massena.

New Law Temporarily Closes Beaches
This year, in compliance with conditions of the new coastal law, some beaches in Nice, Cannes & Saint-Tropez have had to do some restoration work and are currently closed but will open next summer.

Monaco Construction Project Extends into the Mediterranean Sea
Construction has begun on a $2.3 billion project to extend the natural contour of Monaco’s coastline an additional 15 acres into the Mediterranean. Once complete in 2025, the new district, Portier Cove, (located near the legendary Monte Carlo Casino), will house up to 1,000 residents in luxury apartments and villas. Other public spaces will include a landscaped park, seafront promenade and small marina.
